In 1982 at a time when Disney was making films that weren't going anywhere a groundbreaking film named Tron was released into movie theaters. The film stars Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn, as a corporate computer programmer who gets his creations stolen by fellow employee Ed Dillinger. Now Flynn with the help from a couple of friends (Alan, and Laura) try to break into the computer system to get the proof that it the programs were Flynn's. However Flynn get's sucked into the computer by the master control program and must fight to keep from getting killed. To shut the system down Flynn takes on the help of some computer programs written by Alan and Laura.
The movie was financially risky, due to having a first-time director who proposed new visual effects techniques and using computer graphics at a time when few computer companies made terrific graphics. The movie took about nine months of post production which was long in those days but the movie pulled through in time. The movie though getting mixed reviews was a moderate box office success. However because of the long cult following Disney agreed to make the long-awaited sequel Tron Legacy with Jeff Bridges reprising his role.
