Thank you, Mako!

Wow...I was super lazy with this one ^_^;

TO THE TALK

Sometimes I wish I could come up with some great, profound thoughts to put in these blog posts, but often I'm really run dry. I think I've come up with an awesome, pullitzer-prize winning insight, and then someone else's comes along and I realize I put little to no effort into this. Or maybe my insights aren't that deep.
When we were shown that video of Mako (I don't remember his full name, I know his given name was Makoto, but everyone was calling him Mako and that stuck with me) doing the paintings for the new edition of the KJV (or was it NKJV? What's the difference between those, anyways?). They were beautiful, showing a great mastery of the artform...but I didn't understand always what they meant. When he explained them they sometimes made sense...but for the most part I was in the dark. I think they would make more sense if I was actively reading and looking at the paintings, connecting the two.
Regardless, I really admired  Mako because of what he was doing. He was a Christian out in the art world, using his expertise to worship and share with the world. He wasn't being pushy. If he was trying to enforce his views on others, he would outright draw Jesus instead of doing his more...abstract? Yeah, I guess its abstract. Whatever it is, its beautiful, and it encourages me as an artist.
