tragedy

Today class was a very depressing hour and a half. The first video shown that was similar to the good Samaritan parable I really enjoyed a lot more then the other one shown. After i thought about why I liked the first one better the conclusion i came up with was that the parable film had a hopeful ending and showed a small glimmer of morality buried beneath the often calloused exterior human mindset. It was also challenging in a tangible way. How can we allow real life tragedies around us not effect us on a humane level? When we see it played out so explicitly in the film then of course it makes sense to people. However, in real life situations most people, me included, are caught up as the people looking down from the window; unaffected by the troubles of the world. I wish this wasn't the case but sadly it is true. The other film we watched today i did not elicit much applicable meaning from. My life is not as bleak as the life of that man. There is enjoyment in life and hope for those who know the lord; at least in my small experience with life. If the director of that film was trying to just show that life is boring and terrible, then he did a great job. If he was trying to show people
that there is hope through the blood of Jesus, in my opinion, he could have done better.
