The discussion of PowerPoint

  • "Powerpoints are the Peacocks of the business world. All show, no meat." -Dwight Schrute 2012
  •  With the discussion of Powerpoint in the air, I would like to give my two cents. Although the program itself is something extremely simple, many people know how to use the program in fascinating ways and create some of the best slide shows of all time. It's an interesting thing what powerpoint has become. Many people claim that powerpoint is the best way to teach anything about any subject. Just make a powerpoint about it and people will understand, that's what almost everybody has to say, and Powerpoint is obviously the quintessential windows program to use for presentations. Why is it however Powerpoint is the greatest tool for such a task? My answer is that throughout the course of our primary and secondary educational careers, we have grown so used to the program that any time we see a PowerPoint file open up, we can rest assured that the following information will be extremely organized. At the same time, however, there is this radical group that can't stand the sight of a Powerpoint and immediately lose attention just at the hint of a Powerpoint. There are many slideshow presentation applications throughout the internet, but Powerpoint is clearly the dominating force, just like people use Word for papers and Excel for Spreadsheets.
