I'm so thankful that I got to see this film. I basically had
to run to Signs and Wonders in order to get to it on time, (due to helping some
friends with film equipment and such) and when I sat down I admit that I
honestly was unsure about the film. Entering into the film slightly late, it
was a little startling to try and figure out where the film maker was going
with his ideas.
As the movie progressed though I was more and more thankful
I had decided to attend. I really loved the symbolism of our protagonist being
like an Ostrich. How he knows where it is he truly belongs, but he decides to
run from that into the wilderness. This wilderness is eventually his undoing,
but in his undoing, he finds what was actually important from the very
beginning. His family, and his culture, the two most important things to him,
are set right once again by the help of those who are precious to him.
The summary of emotions that was portrayed in the film is so
amazingly universal I can defiantly see why Song of Sparrows is favored so
highly among viewers and critics.
