Although it has been awhile since I've seen the movie Lars and the Real Girl, it is a movie that stayed fairly fresh in my mind. I was really happy when I saw the poster, simply because it really is a very deep, thoughtful movie that deals with a lot of important issues.
I appreciated the take on love, specifically. It's really beautiful to watch Lars go through the process of truly loving someone, (or something) and feeling that love in return. It's really a universal thing, which is impressive, because if you took the film at face value you wouldn't get that impression. Just like how most of the people in the film do not understand Lars's love for Bianca, it is sometimes equally difficult for the viewer to understand.
If you take it and look at the universal need to feel loved, and listened to, then the film does begin to make sense. Not only does it begin to make sense, it begins to tug at the emotions. That emotion we all have of desperately needing someone to love us, and someone to talk to us.
It is such a unique take on one of the biggest problems that human kind struggles with.
For that, I really appracite this film.
