The Gospel as Comedy

In the reading The Gospel as Comedy I found some very interesting points. I never really thought about God having a sense of humor, and the ability to display Comedy. After thinking about it a little bit however, I can’t believe I have never thought about it before. Without God there would be no comedy anyway. He is the one who created us; therefore he created us to enjoy comedy. In the book it talks about how God told Abraham and Sarah to name their son after laughter, even though they laughed about having him In the first place. Only a God With a sense of Humor would do that.

            I was also thinking about how Jesus must have had a sense of humor when he walked on the earth. He was totally human and experienced every human emotion. But he also had to feel tragedy and wept sometimes. In the book it talks about how Jesus wept over his friend Lazarus. It talks about numerous other examples of his grief. I Guess reading all of this reminded me about how Jesus was a person just like you and me.
